NCCUF
Projects

Formed in 2021, New Cahokia Commons Urban Farm is an Illinois nonprofit organization dedicated to growing a farm-centered community rooted in wholeness, wellness & healing. Our farm grows healthy food and invests in BIPOC farmers (Black Indigenous People of Color) on five acres of top-grade farmland in Cahokia Heights, Illinois. Our land was once occupied by the Kaskaskia people who were part of the Confederated Peorias (1854) and who are descendants of the Cahokia Mound builders and are today part of Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma. We acknowledge the Kaskaskia people and their displacement.

Our mission is to grow healthy food to heal people, the land, and the community.

, 5:30-8pm

Please join New Cahokia Commons Urban Farm on Sunday, Nov. 12, at our Growin For Gumbo Dinner & Pie Auction fundraiser! You’ll get a taste of a rich and flavorful culinary heritage that reaches back to West-Central Africa.

Field Trials (COMING SOON!)

We will conduct various trials to explore methods to improve crop production, build climate resilient farming systems, try new or unfamiliar crops, and establish cover crops, native trees, and pollinator initiatives to feed the soil and support native ecology.
